Farmers Hospice Campaign 2021
Oamaru and Dunedin Farmers Launch Xmas Fundraiser for Hospice
Today, Dunedin and Oamaru Farmers stores start fundraising for Otago Community Hospice with shopper donations and the sale of a limited-edition Xmas bauble.
Otago Community Hospice CEO Ginny Green says from now until Christmas everyone who makes a donation in Farmers recieves a remembrance card to write a message and place on the tree of remembrance instore. Or they can purchase a limited-edition Xmas bauble.
Each bauble is $10 and thanks to the generous support of Farmers, the full $10 from every purchase will be donated to the hospice service. Farmers also passes on 100% of all customer donations to hospice from the Tree of Remembrance.
“100% of everything donated supports our work, ensuring services remain free of charge in the Otago region,” says Ms Green
The 2021 limited-edition hospice bauble is themed on “Togetherness”.
“This year’s bauble evokes the Christmas spirit, where family, friends and communities come to together to enjoy each other’s company and to make lasting memories. During this time of year, we also remember those who are no longer with us and cherish those who are.
“Togetherness is such a crucial theme for Hospice. We see people coming together year-round. We see communities supporting each other and working together to create a space where people feel comfort and compassion during what are incredibly tough times for families.
“It is the togetherness that can make a large difference to patients, and their families,” says Ms Green.
“This is especially important right now, as we all start to feel the deeper impact of the long running COVID-19 pandemic.”
This is the seventh year Farmers has run the hospice-focussed campaign, with more than $230,000 raised across its lifetime in Otago.
