Home About Us News Update on Shops in the Current Climate

There have been a few changes in the shops to keep up with the current Covid-19 situation.  It is now necessary for all Hospice shop staff, volunteers (and contractors) to have 3 doses of the covid-19 vaccination (by 7th March or 6 months after your second dose).  If you have not done so already please click this link here to confirim your vaccination status.

We are now also asking that shoppers (12 years and over) show their vaccine pass at the door, this seems to be going well, with most people being very supportive.  There are a few vocal minorities who are not happy, this has mainly been on social media. It is good to remember that 95% of the eligible population have been vaccinated and can get a vaccine pass.  We are now asking that shop staff and volunteers wear medical masks (or N95 or equivalent), these masks have been shown to be more effective than standard fabric masks.  Please see the article here on how to care for and wash these.

Please make sure that you read the health screening form and sign in for each shift - this is really important now - even if you do not have covid. The ramifications of coming to work with a cold and spreading it around to other volunteers/staff could mean we need to close the shop as we do not have enough staff/volunteers.

We are extremely lucky with our shop volunteers and could not do what we do without the dedication of these volunteers, however we understand that you need to make the best choice for you and your families.  We have had some volunteers take a break from volunteering during this time and we fully support that.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
