Home About Us News Imagine NZ Without Hospice
It's Hospice Awareness Week (HAW) from May 12-18 and we have decided to use the recent MJ report findings as the focus of our campaign - both the good and the bad!

Our campaign tagline is ‘Imagine NZ Without Hospice’ and it emphasises the amazing value hospices like OCH bring to NZ, while also touching on the urgent need for more sustainable Government funding.

We are promoting our campaign through:

  • Direct mail to our donor base

  • Sponsored print ads in the ODT and local papers across the week

  • An ODT online take over for 2 of the 7 days

  • A strong social media presence

  • Press releases

  • Email signature graphic for OCH staff and our corporate sponsors

This is a draft of one of the ODT sponsored ads (sponsor logos pending).

The messaging and ads will link to a new Hospice Awareness Week page on our website where we will highlight the report's findings, emphasise the great work OCH does and ask the public to do one of three things. 'Donate'', 'Volunteer' or help us 'Take Action'.

If they click on ‘Take Action’ they will be directed to information on how to contact their local MPs and a sample letter.

You can see the new HAW page here.

Mitre 10 and Mitre 10 Mega stores are also running a ‘Give-a-Dollar to Hospice’ campaign across Otago. If you go into a Mitre 10 during Hospice Awareness Week, thank them for their amazing support.

And please share our social media posts if you can.

Our campaign is designed to complement Hospice New Zealand's 'At Risk of Disappearing’ campaign.

Hospice New Zealand's campaign is strongly aimed at advocacy - specifically getting Government to change the way they fund hospices. They have a feature coming up in the Sunday Star Times and are also hoping to get on the 6pm News - so look out for that.

The Otago Community Hospice is a leading light in the delivery of professional hospice services, both nationally and internationally. This is our opportunity to celebrate that, while also working to ensure we, and other NZ hospices, remain viable into the future.

Can you IMAGINE NZ WITHOUT HOSPICE? We can't either.
