Home About Us News Meet The REAL Rodney
Last month we let AI answer some questions about our new IT guru, Rodney Tamblyn. This month we bring you the real answers.

What was your previous job?

My role at OCH is part time, the rest of the week I’m the technical co-founder at OB3 (www.ob3.io). We make a web application for active learning used in distance online education.  Our app is mainly used in medical and health education, working with nurses, doctors and specialists, so there’s a good cross over to the work I do at OCH.

What prepared you for this role?

I’ve worked in information and educational technology for most of my working life.  In addition to the sorts of technical support and systems administration work I do here at OCH, I’m an experienced software developer, so if you have a project that would make things better, come and have a talk.

You’ve been here a few weeks now, how have you found it? Any surprises?

I’ve really enjoyed meeting everyone and having conversations over food or coffee in the break room.

What appeals to you most about the role?

For many years my wife and I have worked in our own business from home.  What I am enjoying the most in this role is meeting people and helping (hopefully) to make things better.  The organisation has many systems and technology which I am learning more about every day.

What appeals to you most about working with hospice?

Making my own small contribution to a service that makes an essential contribution in our community.

What other interests do you have?

I am an accomplished classical pianist, when things are not too busy, you might hear me playing in the family room.
