We Love Providing Education!

It is always great sharing knowledge, discussing experiences, and taking time to learn more alongside people working within residential care facilities.

The RCT nurses can tailor talks to a combined audience of Health Care Assistants, Support Staff and Nurses, or individualise topics to whoever is in attendance.

The following are the broad themes we can provide education on:

• Communication

• Dying

• Care in Last Days of Life

• Symptom Management

• Introduction to Palliative Care

• Palliative Emergencies

• Self-Care

• Goals of Care

There are many topics within each of these broad themes we can speak to. Aspects of symptom management such as pain, breathlessness are often subjects we are asked to talk about. However, sometimes self-care, grief, or de-briefing after the death of a resident can be a very useful way to ensure we are all looking after ourselves and each other.

There may be residents who are experiencing complex symptoms or are at risk of experiencing a palliative emergency, such as bleeding or airway obstruction. Topics therefore can be adjusted to a resident in your care. This may make you feel more prepared if such as event occurs.
