Home About Us News Three Months of Fun, Fun, Fundraising.
Autumn saw the return of some regular events and a shiny new art auction - here's the highlights from Tina.

The last few months have seen some great events and continuing generosity from our amazing community. We have continued to see increases in giving in spite of the increasing cost of living pressures that may are facing.

Hospice Awareness Week

This year's message was 'Hospice care wraps around us all'. We focused on sharing the Hospice NZ developed video on our social media platforms and with print adverts across the region funded by our generous corporate supporters. If you haven't seen the video, you can check it out here: https://www.hospice.org.nz/wraparoundlove

Prize Fight Championship III

The third Prize Fight Championship, organised by Otago Hospice volunteer extraordinaire Aimee Taylor, was held on March 28. This year they raised over $5k for Otago Hospice.

Lindy Chicks High Tea

Once again the Lindy Chicks High Tea sold out and continued to entertain everyone who attended, including a table of Otago Hospice staff. This popular event raised over $14k and was a great chance for everyone to dress up and enjoy some wonderful afternoon tea and great company.

Oracle Art Competition and Auction

The first every Oracle student art competition and auction was held on the evening of 14 May to great success. There was great support for the student art, and the pieces by the three professional judges (Ewan McDougall, Sam Foley, and Anna Reid) all received great bids. The total raised for Otago Hospice came to over $14k.

Taieri Winter Crop Competition

Once again we have received over $30k from the very generous supporters of the Taieri Winter Crop Competition. Our thanks to Taieri Lions Club and Taieri Rotary Club for once again allowing us to be one of the nominees.

Free Wills With Everywill

We have partnered with the free online will platform to offer free wills, with the option of including a gift to hospice. We've only being doing it for a few months and already over $58K has been bequeathed. We are super grateful to the generous people who have included us in their will.

And finally - BNI

The results are in and our faithful fundraising partners, BNI, punched well above their population weight yet again. $21K raised across Otago in 2025 for OCH. Top in the South Island and forth highest nationally.

And that's not all.

At BNI’s annual conference in May, two awards were presented to recognise BNI Chapters that have gone above and beyond in supporting their local hospices. Otago Community Hospice won the award for ‘Most Innovative Fundraiser’ for its BNI Bingo Bonanza event which featured premium auction and raffle prizes, attracted a crowd that was close to capacity, and raised over $16,000.

Our thanks to all of our local BNI groups who supported this event and help out with donations of biscuits, equipment and more throughout the year. We are super grateful for your unwavering support and enthusiasm.
