Education Corner

As the Education Administrator, I play a crucial role in supporting the seamless delivery of our educational programs, including:

• Fundamentals of Palliative Care (FoPC)

• Palliative Care for Care Assistants (PC4CA)  

• Syringe Driver Training (DDT)

My responsibilities encompass administering these programs to ensure they are well-attended. I handle all evaluations and certification processes. Additionally, I focus on the effective marketing of our programs through social media and our website, ensuring that all presenters are well-supported, and everything runs smoothly.

In my capacity, I also contribute to the development of our outreach database. This involves maintaining up-to-date contacts and a robust stakeholder database, as well as providing an education profile for staff members at each facility.

By enhancing our program management, I aim to better serve our community. By utilising our outreach database, I support our team and the various facilities in our network, fostering continuous education and collaboration.

What’s on when, and how to participate.

Fundamentals of Palliative Care:

Usually a six hour in-person study day. On line learning needs to be completed before attending study day. Useful for registered/enrolled nurses and other health care professionals interested in gaining foundation knowledge in palliative care.

• Dunedin based - 12th August 2025

• North Otago/Central Otago/South Otago study days can be arranged if there are enough people to attend. So, if you are keen encourage some colleagues to attend with you.

Palliative Care for Care Assistants:

Either as a study day or Zoom sessions – this is a specially designed course for health care assistants.

• Dunedin-26th June 2025 - full day in-person study day

• Oamaru-4th September 2025 - full day in-person study day

• On-line-November 6th, 2025 - series of Zoom sessions
