North Road Getting a New Intake of Volunteers. Maybe.
Generally people who are not appropriate self-select out. We lost two because they didn’t meet our vaccination requirements, some couldn’t make the info session or training day and some just realised it was more structured than they wanted, or less social.
We ask that they do a minimum of one shift a month (maximum of one shift a week) - and make a commitment of a year. The info session is part of the recruitment process where we tell them about the role and get them focused on what they want out of being a volunteer.
Of the 14 who turned up to the info session, one decided it was not for them, three want to do both cleaning and kitchen, one wants to clean only, and nine want to do kitchen.
These 13 will do a training session in mid-August. Not all of them will turn up.
It’s a lot of organising to get volunteers, but of the ones that make it through, many stay with us for a long time, becoming an integral part of the OCH team.
