Meet Our New Kaupapa Māori Care Coordinator
What was your previous job?
I worked in a people-focused role, supporting others with care and respect very much guided by manaakitanga.
What prepared you for this role?
My past work, my whānau, and life experiences taught me patience, compassion, and how to hold space for others.
You’ve been here a few weeks now, how have you found it? Any surprises?
It’s been warm and welcoming like joining a whānau. The biggest surprise is the depth of kindness in every part of the work.
What appeals to you most about the role?
Being able to help people find calm, dignity, and support during a meaningful part of their journey.
What appeals to you most about working with hospice?
The heart of the work the aroha, the teamwork, and the privilege of walking alongside people and their whānau.
What other interests do you have?
I enjoy connecting with nature, spending time with whānau, music, and learning more about culture and wellbeing.
