Hospice Awareness Week 15 - 21 May 2023
Hospice Awareness Week is a time to reflect on the value of hospice care. From 15 - 21 May we shine a light on and celebrate the depth of service we provide in Otago.
We have people - nurses, doctors, counsellors, kaimahi wairua, social workers and educators - in YOUR community supporting those who are dying, to live well to the end.
We support patients & their whānau wherever they choose to be. This is the face of Otago Community Hospice, we can be found everywhere.
The 15th of May also signals the launch of Hospice NZ’s ‘It’s Ok” Campaign. The campaign features hospice patients and whānau sharing their emotional journeys of dying and hospice care.
Otago Hospice supporter Haley Cron, Zen Hair, shares her experience of hospice care and encourages people to talk about dying.(watch video)
“Just normalise it, make it ok…it does make it easier…when you ignore it, it makes it incredibly difficult,” says Haley.
Your donation during Hospice Awareness Week 15-21 May will ensure that our service continues to be there, free of charge, for anyone in the community who needs it.
It's OK, Hospice will be there. Please DONATE today.
